  Prologue

“Rayven for fuck’s sake be sensible about this.”

“Calm down Tabby otherwise you’ll give yourself a seizer.”

“I don’t give a fuck Rayven. In your condition you’re unable take care of your family, Kent and the baby on your own.”

From the moment he acknowledged the baby, Tabby’s attitude towards the way I live, has a tendency to be overbearing. It was at times like this that I yearned for the pre-Tabby baby days. Days when life had been easier.

A twinge in my lower back catches me unaware, which I rub absent-mindedly as I continue in my quest for somewhere to sit. Regrettably, space is lacking in this room and in the end, I decide my best choice is to move the clean laundry from the chair nearest to me. This then leaves me with a new dilemma of where was I going to put the clean laundry. Laundry that I am reaching for, when suddenly Tabby makes a grab for it as he clears a space for me.

“For fuck's sake, Rayven just ask.”

“Tabby I can lift them. What the hell, don’t place them on the table.”

“If you moved in with me Rayven. You wouldn’t have this problem.”

“No Tabby I’d have another set instead.”

The last couple of months have not been easy. With Kent in hospital, recuperating after his horrific attack. Entirely thanks to Devil’s Comfort. The pregnancy was not helping either, as it left me tired most of the time. Now with Kent coming home, I am hoping life will be easier. Yet Tabby has other ideas. He wants me to move into his house, and this is why we are having one of our fights.

“Rayven, this house is too small for all of you.”

“It may be too small, but it is adapted for Momma and Kent’s needs.”

“Something which I am more than cable of having done to my home. Plus, there’s plenty of room for Ivy. Fuck Rayven look at you. You’re a mess.”

Count Rayven, count to a thousand, because ten will not do.

“Ivy might not want the job.” I may be grasping at straws, but I will do anything, not to move in with the giant standing in front of me. This man broke my heart. For almost two years, I put up with his crap. From the moment we met at Devil’s Comforts Garage. Connor Gallagher has invaded my life in every aspect.

  “She’s already accepted.”

“What the fuck do you mean she’s accepted?” Until I met Tabby I had never sworn. Now, whenever we have one of our conversations, my mouth turns into a sewer.

“You need help Rayven. Ivy needs a job.”

Damn, the nagging pain in my head has turned into a migraine. Not wanting to show Tabby that he has me defeated, I close my eyes to try to ease the flashing lights. Yet, this was not helping. A large soft hand takes hold of mine, and when I open my eyes, I find Tabby crouched down beside me. His face full of concern.

“Rayven, this is why you need help. Look at you. You’re exhausted. Ivy and Dec will collect Kent from the hospital and take him direct to my place. Over the next couple of weeks I’ll get the house sorted, then you and your family can move in.”

  “No.”

I know Tabby’s right, but there’s no way I can live in the same house as him. Unless.

“Tabby where will you be living.”

The smile spreading across his face, should have warned me. Silently I crossed my fingers and waited for his answer.

“At the house with you Rayven.”

Yep, I should have known luck was not on my side.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea Tabby. You’re not used to living with people. Besides, how many rooms does the house have?”

The calming effect of Tabby stroking my arm has my body relaxing. For ten years, I have looked after my family with no help from anyone. And I would be a fool to deny I am tempted. Yet I am. I am tempted so much. To know there was someone else I could rely on. Whilst at the same time, I wonder if I could trust him.

Tabby Gallagher is one big blustering giant of a man whore. From the moment we met, my life has never been my own. No matter how hard I have tried, I cannot stop loving him either.

Sometimes, when he has his guard down. When he thinks no one is looking. I see the pain he hides from everyone. At one time, I had wanted to be the person who took his pain away. Instead, I have my
own pain. All thanks to this man.

“The house is big enough Rayven for all of us.”

  “How big?”

The devil. That is what Tabby is, as he smiles at me. His green eyes drawing me in.

“Three rooms upstairs and the dining room has already been turned into a bedroom for Kent.”

“ What about momma? She’s unable to use the stairs.”

“I’m capable of carrying Laura up stairs. Besides, I’ll see about having a stair lift installed.”

The pain in my lower back is a cruel reminder of the baby that I carry. A baby, which I had not wanted at first. That was, until I saw the baby’s image on the ultrasound. Temptation, I am about to give in to Tabby’s offer. It would be nice to share the responsibility with somebody.

“Okay. I suppose we can give it a trial.”

There was that irritating smile again. The one of satisfaction.

  “Oh, and Rayven?”

  “ Yes.”

  “You’ll be sharing my bed.”

  “The fuck I will.”

What the hell. No way was I moving in if it meant we were sharing a bed.

“You said there are three bedrooms.”

  “I did.”

  “Where’s momma going to sleep?”

“Don’t worry about it Rayven. Everything is going to be fine.”

Panic. I can feel panic settling into me.

  “No.”

There is no way I can sleep in the same bed as this man. Then a grin of my own spreads across my face.

“Tabby if you and I share a bed there’ll be no sex with either the club whores or the dancers from Tie Me Down.”

I have him. That condition is bound to make him either change his mind or move into the club.

“Sure Rayven. I wouldn’t want it any other way.”

Shit, what did he mean by that? “I’ll not be having sex with you Tabby.”

I really was learning to detest his smile.

“Rayven it’s polite to wait until you’re asked.”

“ Agree to my condition Tabby and I’ll move in.”

As he stands, Tabby leant over to plant a kiss along my brow.

  “Fuck, Rayven I’ll agree.”

“ You’ll not last Tabby. No sex. Think about it.”

“That’s ok Rayven. I’ve gone without since our night. I can wait until you’re ready.”

  Chapter 1

No matter what excuse I came up with, somehow Tabby managed to have moved us into his home by the end of the month. Any furniture that we left behind, which was a majority of it. Tabby had burnt.

While the brothers and Ivy, collected a sullen Kent from the hospital. And no matter how much I had pleaded to go with them, Tabby insisted I wait at his home with momma. As we drove across town to Tabby’s, my stomach began to twitch. This is my first visit to Tabby’s home and I am uncertain what to expect. When we do arrive, I am surprised at the size of the house. It may not be as large compared to a couple of others on his street, but it is nearly three times the size of my family home.

One of the first things I notice is the temporary ramp placed over the three steps that leads into the house. Inside there is a kitchen at the rear, and along the left wall, there are two doors. The first door opens into the living area. The room is colorless, stark, and impersonal. No photographs grace any of the walls. There are no knickknacks or mementoes. A shiver runs down my spine as I stare into the cold, almost empty room. The only item to dominate the area was a large television attached to one of the bare walls. There was also a recliner, a sofa and another chair.

Along the far wall was a set of double doors, which led to another room. This room is also cold and furnished to the bare minimum. A large double bed is near the window and a second television hangs on the wall. In the far corner, there is a cubicle and on closer inspection, I discover it to be a small shower with a toilet. So, this is to be Kent’s room.

While waiting for everyone to arrive from the hospital, momma investigated the kitchen, while I went upstairs. As we explored, I began to wonder where everyone was to sleep. Upstairs contained three bedroom and a couple of bathrooms. One of the rooms had a small en-suite similar to the one in Kent’s new room. The more I looked round the house, the more despondent I became.

  “Well?”

“I don’t know Momma. I’m not sure where we’re all going to sleep. I’ll talk to Tabby about us staying at our house.”

My comment has not pleased momma. Her lips thinning, as she spun her wheelchair and headed towards the living room. With leaden feet, I followed and moved to stand by the window. The sound of a vehicle approaching drew my attention to the road and I watched a silver SUV pull into the driveway. The occupants in the front were easy to identify. Tabby and Dec had arrived. Eager to see Kent I dash outside, arriving just as Dec pulled the side doorway of the SUV open to reveal Kent along with Ivy. Ivy is a pretty girl with curly red hair and when she steps down, it was clear to everyone that she was much taller than I was.

“Hi Kent, I bet you’re glad to be out of the hospital.”

“Hi Rayven. Yeah, any place is better than the rehab center.”

Kent’s skin was a dingy gray. The gauntness of his flesh, an indication of how much weight he has lost during his stay in the medical center. While I studied my brother, Tabby came alongside with his wheelchair. A temporary situation the doctors had explained.

“Hi Rayven. Come on Kent let’s get you inside.”

Without preamble, Ivy took hold of the chair and wheeled Kent towards the house. Her stride brisk and confident. Close on her tails was Dec, Tabby’s twin and the club’s Sergeant at Arms.

  “Okay Rayven let’s have it.”

Tabby’s retort pulls me out of my trance. Both his tone and attitude leaves me bristling.

“The house isn’t big enough for all of us. I’ve decided we’ll stay where we are and I can call in on Kent.”

It still surprised me that after two years, Tabby knew when something was wrong. Gentle hands cupped my lower stomach. Softly stroking the small bulge, soothing the baby. Who at his father’s touch, settles down.

“Stop upsetting the baby and tell me what’s wrong?”

Tabby’s hands are doing crazy things to my body. His touch may not be provocative, but he was still managing to make me wet my panties. My breasts were becoming heavy as my nipples pressed tight against the cloth of my bra. Not wanting Tabby to know how much his touch is affecting my body and my equilibrium I stepped back and turned towards the house.

“There’s not enough room Tabby and how can Momma manage the stairs?”

When Tabby did not want to answer a question, he was very good at ignoring it, and that is just what he did. His large hand, took hold of one of mine as he practically dragged me towards the house. With each stride he took, I had to take three small jogging steps just to keep up with him.

  “Let go of my hand.”

“No. The house is big enough Rayven. Now behave yourself. Don’t you go upsetting your Momma or Kent.”

Unable to resist I stick my tongue out at his back. Tabby’s response to my child-ness sent a spark of arousal through my body. An arousal, which is never too far from the surface when he is around.

“I’ve a much better use for your tongue Rayven and unless you want to give your family a show, put it away.”

This time a low growl of frustration, escapes my throat as we enter the house. Only to discover momma coming from the kitchen with a tray of drinks on her knee. As I went to remove the tray, Tabby dragged me away.

  “Everything OK Rayven?”

  “Leave it Rayven.”

  “Yes Momma.”

Although my answer was polite, I was unable to prevent the glare I threw at Tabby, as he dragged me into the living room. Where we found Dec sat on the recliner, the television remote in his hand. Kent was sitting by the window, scowling at the outside world. While Ivy can be seen in the bedroom, unpacking Kent’s belongings.

/>   “Hey Kent you must be happy to be home?”

With a final glance out of the window, Kent swung his wheel chair round and steered towards the room he would be using.

  “Yeah Rayven, I’m thrilled.”

That was nearly three weeks ago. When we came to visit, although he was not rude, his attitude was blunt, mainly leaving us in the company of Ivy.

No matter what reason I gave for not moving into Tabby’s, he was insistent that we move in. This morning he had arrived at our old house and with the help of Dec, they soon had the removal van filled with our belongings. What we were not taking with us he had disposed of at the local junk yard or burnt anything that was flammable. Politely informing me that it was mostly crap anyway.
